I am a mother of four beautiful, active, girls that love to play outside wearing just there socks. In an attempt to help keep the house clean, our family has a rule that no one is allowed to wear shoes inside of the house. This has created a problem with the little ones. My two youngest do not know how to put their own shoes on, and consequently run out of the house in just their socks. Although my two oldest girls know how to put their shoes on, nine times out of ten, they are too lazy to do so. As a result, we have a huge mountain of soiled socks to wash at the end of the week; of which many pairs are beyond repair. In late 2008 I began to experiment with ways of making a comfortable foot dressing for my children that would allow them to run and play outside without having to put their shoes on every time they wanted to do so. Finally, after many attempts and adjustments, sockoes was born.

After a day of wearing a pair of sockoes for the first time, my littlest was very happy with them.

In fact, she was so happy that she wanted to sleep with them on. Once my other three daughters saw how happy their little sister was with her sockoes, they all wanted a pair. cuter&cuter is an e-commerce company based in Geneva; making girl’s dresses (age 3 months to 6 years) recycled out of Daddy’s old shirt. The concept also includes flower girl dresses and christening gowns, the latter made out of a vintage wedding gown. The concept was born remembering the special bond I had with my father;

“As a little girl I used my father’s shirt as a security blanket and a reminder of him. Nearly forty years later I can still feel his presence when I think of that shirt. The white one with tiny blue bicycles on it. The comfort of my fathers shirt is still in my heart.”

The story about my daddy’s shirt has not only struck a chord with me but also almost every woman I have told it to. As children we all used daddy’s shirt as a comforter and that gave us our original idea for cuter&cuter! The dress is a one off and handmade in Switzerland, embellished with crystals, embroidery and other surface decoration.
