Specialty Stores on Target

As one of the United State's largest apparel sellers, Target has raised the fashion - value bar to new heights and set a standard boutique label manufacturers must exceed to remain successful. In essence, the branded apparel manufacturers (ie. me) must provide products to specialty retailers which are cutting edge, fresh, novel, and at a price that screams value to the consumer.

Do fashion designers start trends or do they have an ability to anticipate fashion trends?

The best fashion designers are clearly innovator…

Hello Corky I checked out your website, really cool and fun apparel. I also noticed you have more girl items than boys. Do you think the demand for more boy apparel is changing in a sense that a boy's only store can survive in such a market.

Hi Corky; nice to here from you. I saw your companies name on a rep’s web site as one of there lines they carry I think it’s Texas or Michigan and instantly remembered your name. I browsed the line and you guy’s have some unique stuff, I really like the use of color and style it’s refreshing to see someone doing a different thing. We have been very busy trying to interview new rep’s for our Spring 09 collection and finishing production on our Fall line for delivery. Being in manufacturing end of things you know how hectic it can be with all the personalities you have to deal with. You might be able to give me some advice on weather I should stick to outsourcing or hire a couple of sample makers and sewers. I know it leads to other headaches but it would be nice to see you’re designs as samples that same day. Also do you have any advice on marketing in the US. I know of Hudson’s, Earnshaws, and Baby Culture but is it cost affective for a new brand braking into the US. Thanks for any light on the subjects. I find your post to be one of the few that are very helpful. All the best!

It is very busy getting ready for the opening and trying to make the final decisions on which brands to carry and which custom lines to feature. Some companies are great as far as dropshipping, which I am thankful for at the moment. As I move along, so will my inventory! I will keep all posted! Thanks.

Etsy is great - low fees, nice people. I certainly don't use it to it's fullest potential, but I know some who do and with great return.
